Since the rapid expansion and development of the urbanization, more and more people rushed into the capital or several major cities to live and work. The transportation system became the primary concern for the municipality and faced tremendous pressure. In this case, how to efficiently use the limited space resources is the key to solve the problem.
One metro customer in Middle East, currently, metro could provide internal Ethernet network (LAN) between active stations and OCC dispatcher. Each train is equipped with GM300 conventional mobiles. However, the solution could not meet the customer requirements, especially the lack of coverage due to the limitation of analogue technology. Therefore, the most concern is how to connect several repeaters in different train stations in order to cover the whole tunnel. Other requirements are as below slide.
Meanwhile, the lead time is another challenge. The customer is struggled by the current situation. Several backup systems have been tested but neither of them could satisfy the requirement. The manager is in a dilemma due to the rush hour is coming in the next two weeks. When the customer turns to Hytera, it’s only one week before the Chinese New Year. That’s to say, Hytera will have 10-day holiday so the delivery should be make within one week.
With in-depth understanding of the customer requirements, Hytera proposed DMR IP site connected solution with RD985 repeaters, MD785 mobile radio, PD785 portable radios as well as one dispatcher system. There is 1 DMR repeater in each station. Each train will equip 2 mobiles in the head and rear respectively. One mobile and the dispatching system are installed in the OCC. In this way, all the repeaters could easily meet the coverage requirement with existing IP connection. The communication from OCC to the train mobile will be all call and the train driver could answer the OCC by private call.

After the delivery, the next issue is installation. With comprehensive guidance from after-sales department, the installation is done within 1 day and got very positive feedback from the customer. The last is on-site commissioning and training. Before programming the radio, Hytera team fully discussed with the customer about the function required and then designed the programming plan and trained the customer how to achieve it through the software.
The digital system works smoothly and the coverage and audio quality is greatly beyond the customer expectation.
Compared with the previous Motorola solution, Hytera solution has superior advantages.
The coverage problem is easily solved with IP connection function and 50W output of the repeater and mobile.
With TDMA technology, the channel resource is doubled with no additional cost.
Replace the repeater and connect the new digital repeater to the existing antenna and power supply, the system could use.
With digital technology, the voice is much more clear and crisp especially in edge coverage.
The system also supports dispatching function and other supplementary service, such as alert call, remote monitor, and radio disable/enable to achieve management function.
